Tax.cal

Terms of use

Estimates to help you understand, not advice.

These terms cover the calculator on this website, Tax.cal Plus and the Tax.cal app in ChatGPT. Using any of them means you accept these terms. They are written to be read.

What Tax.cal is

A calculator that explains its numbers

Tax.cal estimates the tax on a salary, and the tax inside everyday spending, from published tax rules. Each result names the tax year, the version of the rules used, the date they were last checked and the assumptions behind it.

Tax.cal is not tax, legal or financial advice, and it does not know your full circumstances. It does not file tax returns, submit forms, make payments or contact a tax authority for you, and nothing it shows is a binding statement of what you owe.

Accuracy

Estimates can be wrong

Some parts of a result are calculated from the rules, such as income tax, social contributions and state or provincial tax. Other parts are estimates, such as the tax inside spending. Every result says which is which and how confident it is. Rules change, real situations are more varied than any model, and mistakes are possible.

Before you rely on a figure for a decision, such as choosing India's old or new regime, setting money aside or comparing a job offer, check it with the tax authority's own tools or a qualified professional. Tax.cal does not guarantee any outcome, refund or saving.

Using it

Fair use

  • The calculator and the ChatGPT app are free to use and need no account.
  • Do not try to break, overload or get around the limits of the service, or use it to harm others. Automated use is rate-limited.
  • Do not present Tax.cal's estimates as official figures or as advice from us.
  • Inside ChatGPT, OpenAI's own terms and policies also apply to your conversation.
Responsibility

Your decisions stay yours

Tax.cal is provided as it is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from relying on an estimate. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have that cannot be limited by law.

Your data

Covered by the privacy policy

What is stored and what is not differs between the website, Tax.cal Plus and the ChatGPT app. The privacy policy explains each one.
